Once again we were presented with some fantastic auditions and were dealt some difficult decisions to deal with. However, after much deliberation, we have come to a cast list that we feel will allow us to present the most complete show we can do.
There are a couple of roles that are "doubled" meaning that the actors will split the role between the 4 performances. Those roles are:
Cinderella's Step-Mother
Florinda
Lucinda
Little Red Riding Hood
These roles will have the first person listed as the Friday evening and Saturday afternoon performances, while the second person listed will be the Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon performances.
Rehearsals will be posted on the calendar below. We will start with musical practices for individuals with Mr Waibel ASAP. Full group music rehearsal will start after getting back from Christmas break and morph in to blocking rehearsals shortly after. You are expected to know when your role needs to be at rehearsals. If you have a conflict, you NEED to communicate that conflict with Mr. Waibel. If anyone misses too much practice without communicating, you may be replaced with another actor.
There is also a Facebook group that provides much more direct communication for upcoming events and soforth that ALL cast members will need to join (If you do not have Facebook, please let Mr. Waibel know). Search "Triad Drama Presents"

Cast List
Auditions were great this year and the audition committee had some very difficult conversations and decisions to make. Ultimately, we feel as though we came up with some decisions that will ultimately lead up to a fantastic production.
Please note: Our first scheduled "Casted" read-thru will be on Tuesday, November 13 after school until approximately 4PM. (I understand Winter sports pics are the same day, come when you are able).
THE CALENDAR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE IS A TENTATIVE REHEARSAL SCHEDULE. It is heavy throughout the months to accommodate any potential weather issues we will encounter, Spring Break, and, it is easier to cancel rehearsals than add more on.
If a rehearsal is scheduled to end at a specific time (they all are), then I release students at that time and do not hold them over. This is out of respect to the parents that need to drive out here to pick up their children. Please be on time to pick up your child so that I may get home to mine, I would greatly appreciate this courtesy.
I will not have books for everybody at this read-thru, but can order more based on the number of people that are actually going to participate in the show thru the completion. Anyone that decides last minute to join the show will be placed in chorus. If any parts drop, then we will fill based on Mr. Waibel's decision.
Show dates are as follows:
April 12 @7pm
April 13 @2pm AND 7pm
April 14 @2pm
If you are unable to attend these shows, please let Mr. Waibel know ASAP

Rehearsals
Thank you for a fantastic first rehearsal. Just a few things
1. Bring a flash drive to receive the music files so that you can practice at home on your own. I would like all of the music to be learned as soon as possible so that we can move on to the choreography
2. Please pay attention to the calendar at the bottom of this page (if you are viewing on a phone, please click "View Web Version" Link to see calendar). Most days are sketched out thru October at this point. If you are not involved with a specific song we are working on, please do not show up for practice as it wouldn't be worth your time. Also, please make certain to double check the end times, as they will change based on our needs.
3. Parents, please know that if practice ends at 3:30, we will release at 3:30 (3:35 at the latest) I do not like keeping students over the scheduled time as I know that families have schedules to keep and I don't like sitting in parking lots when my personal child has practices, so know that practices will end when they are supposed to (with NEVER going more than 5 minutes over)
4. When we are here for practices, you may have a large chunk of time where you won't be needed. Use your time wisely and practice your part (no matter how small) so that we (the Directors) can accomplish what we are working on, and also, you will be better prepared for your part.
5. Costume information will be coming shortly. We want all ELVES to look very similar, but New Yorkers will need to look very different from one another. Read thru your characters part and try to make note of how many outfits you will need for your part.
6. Ellie Osterholt will be the student director for the stage blocking and choreography for this show. If she asks you to do something, please just do it without issue as she won't be asking you to do anything I wouldn't ask you.
As always, if you have any questions, please e-mail me at waibelp@triadk12.org

Audition Information
Auditions are scheduled for September 5 and 7 starting after school. Please sign up for the earliest time possible so we can be efficient with our time as judges.
As in the past, we will have Mrs. Smart-Meigs and Ms. Haerr assisting with auditions and helping to make casting decisions. Ellie Osterholt, our student director for this show, will also be in on the audition process. Please understand, there is a finite amount of parts and not everyone will be getting what they audition for.
Sign up sheets will be posted on the HS office window. Again, please sign up for the earliest times possible

Please be prepared for your audition. If you need music for your score part, please see Mr. Waibel ASAP

Advanced Choir Audition Results
All current Advanced Choir members were reminded several times that they were not guaranteed a spot in the group next year based solely on participation this year. This current school year was an introductory year to get it off the ground and we were very successful with that. I am very proud of our accomplishments this year and am looking forward what the future brings.
Audition decisions were made based around a number of criteria.
First, everyone sang a capella. I was listening for a solid tonal center (meaning your DO note didn't shift around at all). This is imperative for this group as we will be exploring more a capella music for next year. Also, it is expected that you would have sang the vocal part of the piece you were auditioning with, since you all used a piece from previous (or current) concerts or solos, it was expected that your part would have been sung correctly (not perfectly, but correct note movement is essential)
Second, I did not look at Sight-singing at all. Many of you floundered with it, while very few did well (which was expected). Ultimately, I did not think it fair to use the sight-singing exercise as decision criteria, and therefore did not play in to my decision (although it will in the future).
Third, everyone has been asked to some degree to change something during classes (throughout time) about how something needed to be sung. This group is going back to contest and members will need to change their singing style or pronunciations of words or vowel shaping to accomplish our goal without hesitation.
Lastly, I thought very long and hard about my final decision and I did not utilize seniority as a part of my decision. Letting people down is not my favorite thing to do in the world, but auditions ultimately end with people being both happy and unhappy...so without further adieu
